Our Song for You Contest PART 2!

The Our Song for You Contest that we put on with one of our favorite bands, Love and Theft, generated so much noise among fans that we decided to EXTEND the contest until November 10!

What exactly does this mean? It means, by your request, we’re giving you an extra two months to put your creativity, originality, and promotional skills to work in entering the contest.

Why are we doing this? After receiving over 100 entries in a month’s timing, we were extremely blown away by the effort and enthusiasm that you put forth to help the guys of Love and Theft.  However, we received some entries with ideas that were much bigger than the time constraint of a month (sometimes less in a few cases of folks who heard about the contest late) so we’re allotting an extra 2 months for you to make these ideas a reality!

We couldn’t allow those who had worked hard to meet our original deadline to go without reward, so we chose 13 finalists to receive a special prize from the guys of Love and Theft for their entries: Amanda Breedon, Amber Reid, Caroline Zaremba, Danielle Callahan, Aleesha Broome, Catie Engelby, Megan Stanton & Gabie Ross (who entered as a team), Kalya Larson, Katelyn Larson, Haley Fox, Sarah Wood and Jessica Wulf. Congratulations to all of the finalists for their work and dedication to spread the love for the band through original and creative outlets. All of the entries received before the extension was announced are all still entered and will be judged once again in November when the contest ends. We do still encourage everyone to continue entering as many times as they’d like this time around as well.

What’s next? It’s time to get those gears in your minds turning and bust out the best of the best ideas on how to promote  Love and Theft to as many new people as possible. Schools and colleges are back in session, and sports season is upon us, which means there is going to be a lot of opportunity to promote the band in front of large crowds of people.  Whether it be tailgating at a sporting event or at a high school pep rally, the opportunities to get creative are endless this time around.

One point we wanted to share from the rules from the first printing of the contest was the last one based on how we judge:  The winner will be chosen based on unique idea, creativity, thought, effort, and final outreach and product. We are encouraging everyone to document their promotion as well as the number of people they reach as often as possible.  Take photos, video people’s reactions to what you did–the more you can show us, the better.

Deadline for entry: Midnight, Wednesday, November 10th, 2010!
