These Mockingbirds right here? NO, Those Mockingbirds at Maxwell’s!

This past Saturday some of the Planet Verge team rendezvoused at Maxwell’s in Hoboken for some good ole rocknrolla! There were many good bands on the bill that night but our main attraction, and reason for going, was Those Mockingbirds.

Saturday was my second time seeing Those Mockingbirds, and I was definitely not disappointed. Their energy was extremely high and everyone was on point. I was, however, surprised to discover that the band is less than one year old! Each member of Those Mockingbirds meshed perfectly with the other and smoothly transitioned from one song to another. They easily had the stage presence of a band that’s been playing together much longer than one year.

The music itself was also quite wonderful. I love that I can’t really pigeonhole them into a genre. All I know is that they’re loud and they’re fun. The violin is also a nice touch, and helps set Those Mockingbirds apart from other bands. Those Mockingbirds were really able to get the crowd going. They got one couple so amped up that they lost all self control, jumped up on stage, and proceeded to dance while the band continued to play.

Sadly Those Mockingbirds announced that they will only be playing one more Jersey show before heading on tour and expanding their horizons. If you live in New Jersey I absolutely recommend that you see them at this show (which is TBA). If you live anywhere else keep your eyes and ears open because Those Mockingbirds may very well be coming to a city near you!
