Letters Out Loud- Butch Walker at Joe’s Pub

Butch Walker is known to end his sets smothered by fans as he performs in the middle of the venue floor. During these moments, he’s either leading an acoustic campfire sing-along to the tune of “Take Tomorrow (One Day at a Time),” off his solo debut, Left of Self Centered, or he’s rocking out to “Lights Out,” off his album second solo album, Letters.

But, earlier this month at Joe’s Pub in New York City, when Walker performed “Lights Out,” he was the lone man seated on stage under a dimly lit spotlight and accompanied only by electric blues guitar riffs. This wasn’t an ordinary Butch Walker show. Ok, now you’re thinking what is and “ordinary” BW show? He’s always reinvigorating the live show. He’s toured acoustic solo, brought out a full band and did the whole backup singers and dancers extravaganza.

Well, this was a magical evening of Letters, in order from first track to last, performed solo by Walker ala VH1 Storytellers. The next two nights, he performed Sycamore Meadows and The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let’s Go Out Tonites. Having conquered LA and NYC, he’ll be wowing audiences in Chicago and his hometown of Atlanta next.

*By Joelle, who was slightly annoyed with the waitresses at Joe’s Pub for getting in her way while she was enjoying her favorite singer perform her favorite album in his collection.
