The Best, Worst and What I Never Told You This Year On The Verge

With 2009 coming to a close, it’s been one full year of our webTV show, On The Verge. There’s a lot you’ve seen on here and a lot you haven’t… with that, I bring you my highlights: the best, worst and a lot of what I never told you about in 2009 (both because I’m a slacker and because some things are embarrassing…though, you can follow me on Twitter, you may catch something new).

Moment I Never Told You About: I was on the Snoop Dogg show this year. One of the show’s associate producers made me want to pull out “a sphincter says what?” so badly. Anyway, I learned that Snoop’s favorite rock band was Pink Floyd because he likes the color pink…guess why?? Has Dogg After Dark been cancelled yet? I hope so.

Most Fun Interviews: I can’t pick one. I can hardly pick three. But here are my tops!

In third place: The Lives of Famous Men. This one isn’t live yet, so I’m going to have to go by memory… ok, I think we formed a secret club at the beginning of our interview… handshakes and all. This was one of many interviews I’ve done in the kitchen of @AngelsandKings… this makes for good conversation… just you wait and see!

Coming around in second: Family Force 5 – we had a dance party and they deemed my stage name as “Sweet P.” There was no footage of this so you will never see it, so you’ll have to trust me on how great it would’ve been to see all 6 of us dance in a room that was only about 5′ by 5′.

And the GOLD goes to: Black Gold. This interview could’ve gone on for hours and, to date, it’s the longest OTV interview we’ve ever put on the site (just under 14 minutes!). Highlights include Than making up a song about autographing genitalia and both guys having a serious discussion about what makes a good nipple. You need to see this if you haven’t already!

Toughest Interview: Dan Keyes of Young Love. @Markremo overheard he had some anxiety and chose not to tell me. As soon as the cameras turned on, Dan did not want to talk. The interview felt like a high school am news broadcast – everyone is so nervous and the air feels thick… but it seems no one really noticed except you. Tell me if you can feel the tension: watch my interview with Young Love.

Moment I felt like a tool: I thought Jordan from Wild Light was so cute, I almost let @markremo talk me into pretending like I was missing a piece of camera equipment in their dressing room so I could talk to him again.

Biggest Concert Scare: Bamboozle NJ: I learned I am far too old to make it in a Boys Like Girls or Cobra Starship-like crowd. Smelly, sweaty teens with dandruff rubbing up against me…not cool. I lasted nearly three songs though. On the upside, it was somewhat amusing to watch 14 year old girls crowdsurf amongst other 14 year old girls… big surprise: it doesn’t end well.

Best Show: @Hansonmusic at the Nokia Theater. I had actually forgotten how talented these guys are! A decade ago, I was addicted to their music. When I found myself at the Hanson show for On The Verge, I wondered if I’d enjoy the show even half as much as I had back in 2000. Understatement! Me and @tspatz (from @ambushtv) were so impressed it’s all we talked about for days.

Worst Show: Ok, so the singer, Sam Endicott, was sick that night. I definitely give The Bravery props for even performing at all. But… it was bad. The vocals were so weak, you couldn’t even hear them. This show did take a turn for the better though… two things:

1) LA Reid sat in front of me and I felt cool

2) A tranny in the crowd started to get naked and was dancing with a drunk guy. Drunk guy had NO idea that his dance partner was a he-she. Hilarity ensues.

Favorite Females:

*Jessica Bowen of The Summer Set – come on, how can you not love a hot girl drummer?

*Aisha Stuart and Louise Bagan of Addictive – down to earth Brits I met on their first visit to NYC. The ladies proved to me they had style when the three of us went to Bella Ro in Hoboken to do some outfit accessorizing and sing some acapella (cause that’s what you do in a clothing shop, yes?) Interview coming soon, but for now, follow these ladies @addictivemusic

*Chloe Jo Berman of The Girlie Girl Army – Once a reality tv star, Chloe Jo is now channeling her fashionista talent and creativity to provide her army of “glamazons” with the latest in eco-chic living and style. I caught up with her at Farm Sanctuary’s Winter Wonderland this year – watch it!

Blind Item – Who’s glasses am I wearing at Sacred Chow? There’s a good hint in the background if you can tell who that is..
