Sometimes you just have to get naked. Sonically, that is.

Acoustic music speaks volumes and on Monday, November 23rd, the following bands will be stripping down and belting out at Angels and Kings for the acclaimed venue’s weekly AKoustic Monday (where you never know who may stop by).

Angels and Kings has teamed up with all-female music network, Planet Verge, to present:

JOHN NOLAN
(Taking Back Sunday/ Straylight Run)

johnnolan

Singer/songwriter John Nolan began his musical career as the lead guitarist for Taking Back Sunday, helping to secure the band’s place in the alternative rock spotlight before moving on to form Straylight Run (Victory Records) in 2003. Guided by John’s pensive, piano-driven songwriting and open, introspective lyrics, Straylight Run has released multiple critically acclaimed albums and toured alongside bands such as Motion City Soundtrack, Minus the Bear and Rooney.

EYE ALASKA (Fearless Records)

eyealaska

For Brandon Wronski of Eye Alaska, the world is his movie, and he wants to write its soundtrack. Coining the Orange, CA-based group’s eclectic, multi-genre sound as “cinematic rock,” Wronski and bandmates create intricate tracks that mesh and intertwine to form individual parts of a greater story – different scenes for their celluloid masterpiece. The band is touring in support of its debut full-length, Genesis Underground, and continues the grandiose-yet-meticulous delivery they’ve adopted as their signature sound.

CHRIS UNCK
 (Lower 40 Records)

chrisunck

Chris Unck and the Black Roses…where does one even start? One-part Joe Cocker, one-part George Harrison, one-part Hank Senior and one-part, well, is an American original. That’s Chris Unck. His new album Ridiculous!! Ridiculous!! is out now on Lower 40 Records and features the folkalicious tunes “Ruby With Them Eyes” and “Dirty Kuntry Girls.” He continues to be a modern day troubadour as he travels, playing his own brand of tragic tales, adventures, and mishaps. Unck’s modern twist on his classic rock is sure to influence for years to come. And yes, most of those stories you hear in the songs are true. Believe it or not. He is also guitarist for The Black Widows, aka (hit-maker and fellow Atlanta native) Butch Walker’s backing band.

THE RIGHT COAST

therightcoast

Over the past few years, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has become a hotbed of successful musical acts. The Right Coast has been continuing with this tradition with addictive hooks, layered choruses and good old sing-alongs. Having their music already been featured on several MTV shows (The Hills, Paris Hilton’s My BFF) and national tours in the works for the remainder for 2009, this young band is poised to take over the musical landscape.

THE YEARS GONE BY

TheYearsGone By

After touring relentlessly for the past two years with bands like Set Your Goals and Hit The Lights among others, and recently parting ways with screamo powerhouse label, Rise Records, The Years Gone By are back with their strongest release to date. Their new EP, Something You Know Nothing About, is filled with new riffy-guitars, passionate melodies, and sing-along choruses that are sure to get stuck in anyone’s head on the first listen

IF BUT WHEN

ifbutwhen

Soaring melodies, luscious harmonies and introspective lyrics are the only concerns for If But When. Finding unique and moving ways to document life’s highs and lows in song is their only motivation. Maybe pop music can’t change the world, but a song that comes from a real and meaningful place- as all of their tracks do- can provide comfort in trying times, brighten dismal days and dull the sting of a broken heart.

ANTONIO LONGO

antoniolongo

Antonio Longo is the original singer of Taking Back Sunday. He’s been in many bands in the past few years, but finally decided to start something new with all the acoustic songs he’s been working on for years.

THIS CONDITION

thiscondition

Engineering a mix of acoustically jeweled rock, softcore punk, and lively rustles planked by glam-rock riffs, This Condition has a tamed wildness that wraps their punk rock flakes in melodic trimmings and frame their acoustic vessels in power rock boosters, invigorating quakes, and heart-shaped arcs.
