Aimee Allen Brings A Little Happiness to New York City

As you frequent blog readers all know, I’ve been a fan of Aimee Allen for a few years. She’s pretty much the only girl with punk rock roots to whom I feel I can relate. Aimee bleeds passion and a girl after my own heart, she rallies those around her and raises awareness for causes that fuel her fire.

Since she’s a California girl (by way of Minnesota), I’ve had to settle for watching her live shows on You Tube. But thanks to her beautiful new album (which, by the way, she tells me all about in an interview for Venus Zine, and you can read here) and tour with Sugar Ray, I finally got to hear the songs I’ve been singing along to in a live setting.

Apparently, many in New York City were waiting for the very same moment. I was pretty surprised that so many people were singing along to her songs. These were not just fans waiting for the headliners to come out. They were invested musical connoisseurs who perhaps heard her summer break-up anthem, “On Vacation” or were introduced to her sounds through her collaboration with Unwritten Law’s Scott Russo (listen to Scott and Aimee here).

She’s struggled more than most and has come out sparkling. It’s Aimee Allen’s time to shine and her performance at Irving Plaza (I refuse to call it The Fillmore!) has proven that she’s ready for it. Watch out world!

Check out our two On the Verge exclusive acoustic performance clips plus my interview with Aimee (coming soon). And if you see any beads of sweat dripping off our faces, it’s because the RV’s air conditioner was broke!

Below is the evening from Jenna’s lens.
