Happy Hump Day everyone!

I hope you’re all getting through your post-4th of July week smoothly. And if you aren’t, then I’m here to help. This week I bring you Alisha’s Top 5: Hump Day Jams. We all survived Monday (barely), and now we’re at the point where we’re eager for the weekend scene and just need to make it through a few more days. Well I’ve got some songs to share with you that’ll help get you through the day. These songs will either get you pumped for the weekend ahead, make you think about that cutie across from your desk (if not make you think “Why am I working here again?”) and get you up and out. So let’s celebrate Wednesday with some new jams:

1. Michael Jackson – “Workin’ Day & Night”

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall

Alright, so this isn’t really a “work” song but I mean, it’s Michael Jackson! And tell me this song doesn’t get you up and dancin’! Plus it’s Wednesday which means tomorrow is Thursday, the time to get the weekend partying started. So why not pump up this song to get you ready for some dancing with friends? You know you love this song too.

2. Gatsby’s American Dream – “Recondition, Reprogram, Reactivate”

Gatsby's American Dream - Ribbons & Sugar

I love Gatsby’s American Dream because they’re all about being non-conformists and sticking it to the man. Their last (and final) album was a smack in the face to the music industry and I dig that about them. This song is an oldie of theirs that talks about refusing to be a robot in the workforce. Too many of us are stuck in monotonous, boring day jobs that we could care less about. So if this song doesn’t make you rethink your career choice, then I don’t know what will. Maybe it’s time you make that leap you’ve been meaning to…

3. The Beatles – “Hard Day’s Night”

The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night

A classic Beatles gem. This song always makes me wish I had someone to come home to at the end of a long day… but I guess my dog will do. He treats me better than any guy has and loves me dearly anyway, but I digress. I love The Beatles because they capture every part of life in songs perfectly. This is just another one of those songs you can’t help embrace and sing along to when you’re feeling a bit down.

4. Jimmy Eat World – “Work”

Jimmy Eat World - Work

Work and play are never okay to mix the way we do. Oh, how true this is. Everyone has that office crush they’ve eyed after for so long, if not jumped in to and made a huge mistake. But it’s okay, because having some eye candy at work or thinking of that special someone back home makes the time go by faster, doesn’t it? Plus it’s J.E.W., and they’re rocktastic!

 5. Piebald – “The Monkey vs. The Robot”

Piebald - The Monkey vs. The Robot

Piebald is just… fun. We Are The Only Friends That We Have is a summer album staple. This song is about how awesome it is to be in a rock band and not have to succumb to the daily woes of working a 9-5. This is a great fist pumping song to rock out to in your car with the windows down when you’re driving home. I dare you not to enjoy this song.

So there you have it. These are my picks to get you through the mid-week slump. Hope you enjoy them all, and if you don’t then I want to know what songs you pump at work!
