We’ve had London based electro-glam rock act Sohodolls on our radar for a few years. Therefore, it was only natural to put on our sexiest undies and jump around lip-singing to the band’s breakthrough hit, Stripper after Sohodolls announced its USA debut show at the Ace of Clubs in New York City during the CMJ Music Marathon.
Joelle spent the day with Maya von Doll (Vox/multinational mongrel), Toni Sailor (Finnish guitarist), Weston Doll (Portsmouth keyboardist), Matt Lord (English bassist) and Paul (Camden drummer). Watch as the group discusses hearing its songs on Gossip Girl, Maya’s love of Danzig and what Sohodolls has to do with the hot new film genre mumblecore.
Also, don’t miss our interview with Matt Lord during soundcheck, as he recaps the band’s past year of touring the UK, Europe, Japan and South Korea in support of its debut album, Ribbed Music for the Numb Generation.
